Just steps from the exit of Kilimanjaro Safaris in the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. The serene self-guided walking trail invites Guests into the Pangani Forest where lush vegetation, quiet corners, and unique habitats make Guests feel as though they are miles from the crowds. While wandering along the trail, Guests can spot meerkats, Grevy’s zebras, hippos and more, but the real highlight comes at the end. The final area of the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is home to a family of gorillas who can be found playing and relaxing amongst rolling green hills and cascading waterfalls.

Wildlife Express Train
Right next to the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is the underrated Wildlife Express Train. This gentle journey brings Guests on a ride through backstage areas that offer glimpses into how the animals are housed and taken care of in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Featuring a narration that explains the sights and shares more about how the Disney Park operates, the Wildlife Express Train is a great way to relax for a bit and head to another underrated location.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch
The Wildlife Express Train brings Guests directly to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, a quiet corner of Disney’s Animal Kingdom that is only accessible by train. Because of this, it is often quiet and relaxing for many Guests. In the area, Guests can visit the Conservation Station where there is a veterinary treatment room, nutrition center, science center, animation class, and opportunity to meet Timon and Rafiki. Steps away is the Affection Section where Guests can get up close and personal with various animals in a safe and inviting environment. With unique experiences and low crowds, Rafiki’s Planet Watch is an underrated location that should not be missed.

Feathered Friends in Flight!
The Asia area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to the Feathered Friends in Flight! show which runs several times throughout each day. This fun and educational show features a cast of different birds who showcase their unique abilities and features in surprising ways. The birds are free flying and audience participation is encouraged, so you never know just how close you might get to a new feathered friend! While it can sometimes be difficult to plan around a set start time for a show, Guests should not miss out on Feathered Friends in Flight!

Maharajah Jungle Trek
The final underrated attraction that should not be missed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the Maharajah Jungle Trek. This self-guided talking trail can be found in Asia near the entrance of Kali River Rapids and brings Guests deep into the Anandapur Royal Forest. Among lush vegetation and ancient temple ruins, Guests can spot beautiful animals including Asian tigers, Komodo dragons, elds deer, water buffalo, and dozens of species of birds in a beautiful aviary. With many quiet corners and chances to enjoy the animals and atmosphere, the Maharajah Jungle Trek is a must do in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
